More success for Robert Usher at the Annual BIPP Awards!

This year’s annual Photography competition for the North East region, held by the British Institute of Professional Photography, took place on Thursday 26th November 2009 at the Ravens Dean Hotel in Gateshead.

The competition was divided into five photography categories; Weddings, Portraits, Press & PR, Commercial and Pictorial. Professional photographers from across the North East submitted their best photographs into the competition for judgment by BIPP Fellow Mike Roper, who has won Scottish Photographer of the Year for the past 3 years running.

Keen to follow on from his success at last years competition where he was awarded 1st & 2nd place in the Best Wedding Photograph category, Robert entered images into the Wedding, Portrait and Pictorial categories at this years event. Once again Robert walked away with the prize for Best Wedding Photograph and also took 3rd place in the Wedding category! He was also awarded 1st place in the Pictorial category and came 2nd in Portraits.

Robert was praised by the judge for the technical difficulty of his photographs, with his winning entry in the wedding category being one of the main talking points of the night. Roberts 30 years experience as a photographer were clear to see as his creative use of lighting, colour and composition gave his photographs the edge over most of the other competition entries.
